My mom sent this to me today, and I thought some of you might like it. It's a clip (it's one unbroken, unedited camera shot!) of Fred Astaire and Eleanor Powell tap-dancing in 1940 to Cole Porter's Begin the Beguine in a movie called Broadway Melody of 1940.
This is considered one of the greatest tap dancing scenes in film history, and Powell was considered the only female tap-dancer who could out-dance Astaire. In his biography, this is what he said about her:
"She 'put 'em down like a man', no ricky-ticky-sissy stuff with Ellie. She really knocked out a tap dance in a class by herself."
:)
I'm going to try this while I'm mopping the kitchen tomorrow morning.
