My favorite booth at the Nürnberg Christkindlesmarkt this year carried stationery and paper goods -- especially Christmas cards and Advent calendars -- from a company called Grätz Verlag. I especially fell in love with the whimsical, quirky work of an artist named Silke Leffler. Since coming home and Googling her, I've discovered some of her marvelous work is available through Amazon, Nouvelles Images, and Easy Art. It looks like Holly at decor8 did a post about her a couple months ago, and it turns out Silke designed some bedding for Ikea I've long loved that Amy at inspireco blogged about here.
I just love her bright colors, her whispy, fairy-like people, her skinny hearts, her Richard Scarry-ish detail, and the Dumbledorish Santas. :)
On her own site you can see more illustrations here and her children's books here and a neat showing she had here. If you go here and click on each "Artikel" you can see bits of her work published in magazines, too. And if you click here, it will open a pdf file which contains more of her work, and a good interview in both German and English where she talks about her creative process.
