After I discovered (at my mom's house) that BHG is a great ladies' magazine again, I started wondering if there were any other greats ladies' magazines I've been missing out on. So when I was at the grocery store, I grabbed Women's Day and Family Circle.
Women's Day is mostly words. Many of the words were interesting, but I like lots of pictures. There was an interesting article about getting out of debt, however, including some general good money management tips even if you're not in debt. So I do recommend that article. I haven't finished looking at Women's Day, so maybe I recommend some other stuff, too, but just don't know it yet.
But Family Circle! It's so cute! I know I've looked at it before in doctors' and dentists' offices, but I'm not sure that I've ever bought it before. I think I'll check it out again, next month. It had some great, practical stuff in it!
I made their recipe for Tomato-Zucchini Tart a couple days ago, and we all scarfed it right down. Super yummy! Bob is not a tomato fan, and even he wanted seconds.
My only suggestion is that if you own a real tart pan (which has shorter sides than a pie plate, which are straight rather than sloped), use it, as they say. The pie crust shrank down so much in my pie plate after I trimmed it and cooked it, that I had to start over with a fresh crust. It looks wonky, but it tasted good. But I think I'll buy a tart pan.
Here's the recipe. I'm sorry for the splotches of what are probably tomato. :D If you want to buy the magazine, it's the September issue of Family Circle.
